Our Casting Guiding Principles

Anyone is WELCOME to sign up to audition!

It is important to note, however, that there are eligibility requirements for ensemble roles, and as WPP  grows in popularity, there’s always the possibility that we may have more people audition than we have space for. The board of directors has developed these Guiding Principles to define eligibility requirements and help inform casting decisions for the director and production staff.

COMMITMENT

You commit to the rehearsal schedule and sign a “commitment statement” at our WPP Mandatory Business Meeting in early December.

ATTENDANCE

You will attend all scheduled rehearsals for which you are called, prearranged conflicts notwithstanding. Final rehearsal schedule is made available in mid-December.

ANNUAL DUES

You agree to pay the annual Woodland Park Players membership dues.

TICKET SALES

You commit to selling at least 10 tickets (total) for the performances.

CAST MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
ENSEMBLE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Members of the ensemble must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Live within the Woodland Park Players boundaries:

    • South of N. 80th St.

    • West of Aurora Ave N/SR-99

    • North of N. 50th St.

    • East of 8th Ave NW

  • Be connected to West Woodland Elementary School (current or former parent, guardian or staff member or former student)

  • Have participated in the 2016 inaugural cast of Oklahoma!

A NOTE ABOUT CUTS

If more people audition for ensemble than the show requires, cuts will be made. Should cuts be necessary, the Director and Producer will work together to make casting decisions based on talent, fit, and balance of past, current and new members. Final casting decision for ensemble will be done by lottery if necessary.

Any eligible person who is cut from a production and who joins the crew, will be considered with higher priority the next time he/she auditions.

A Supporting or Featured role will appear in approximately 4+ scenes, have several speaking parts and requires larger rehearsal commitment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Anyone is eligible to audition for a Supporting* or Featured role.

  • Note: The Director will be encouraged to cast people who fit the WPP Eligibility Criteria for Ensemble (as defined above) for Supporting/Featured roles, but ultimate casting decision is at the Director’s discretion.

 * NEW Sept 2019: If you have been a Supporting role, for two years in a row, you are ineligible from auditioning for a Supporting role for one year.

SUPPORTING & FEATURED ROLES
